ADRIAN Foster reckons Frome Town’s new-found self-belief has been the catalyst for their recent resurgence.

On Wednesday night, Foster’s men claimed the scalp of promotion-chasing Bideford to notch up a fourth league victory in five matches.

Kris Miller fired home from the penalty spot after striker Ben Thomson, who joined the Robins from Gillingham Town late last week, was brought down in the area with 61 minutes on the clock before Rhys Baggridge made the game safe as he found the net with 18 minutes to go after latching on to Ben Wood’s throw-in.

Delighted boss Foster thinks that Badgers Hill is already a very different place to when he first arrived at the club last December.

“When I first came in, everyone was quite down and the players seemed to be going out there worrying about losing,” said the Frome manager.

“Now, they’ve got a lot more confidence, they’re believing in their own ability and they’re now expecting to go out and win games.

“I’ve brought in a few players to add a bit of competition but the squad that has been picking up results is pretty much the same as what was here before I came in.”

Last Saturday, there was more home comfort for Frome as they thrashed Redditch United 4-0, with debutant Thomson, Ricky Hulbert, Matt Smith and young winger Mario Mateus, signed from Paulton Rovers, all getting themselves on the scoresheet.

Foster has seen more movement take place on the transfer front, with long-serving midfielder Alex Lapham opting to join Paulton and Matt Clark leaving for Calor League Division One South and West outfit North Leigh.

Former Swindon Town man Kurt Hammonds has also opted to step away from the game, due to a persistent knee injury.

But the Robins boss insists that he doesn’t rule out reuniting with any of his departing players.

He added: “It was a shame that I didn’t get to see Alex play because I’ve heard some great things about him but he’s good friends with Nick Bunyard (Paulton manager), just like I am, and he’s been promised first-team football straight away.

“It’s the same case with Matt but my door is always open for players if they want to come back.”
