THE fixture that catches the eye in Division Three is the one at Stanley Park where the top two sides are set to go head-to-head.

For second placed Sportzcoach Dragons United it is a must-win game, as opponents Melksham Cosmos have a six-point lead over their rivals at the top of the table have played two extra games.

Cosmos won the earlier clash between the sides 3-2.

Christian Malford, currently in third spot and playing some of their best football for many years, will be hoping that the top two sides can grind out a draw so that they can keep their own slim chances of snatching a top two finish alive with a victory at home to Trowbridge Town Supporters Club, who beat them 6-5 on the opening day of the season.

Malford have come a long way since then and go into the game having lost just once in 11 games.

With FC North Wiltshire and Pig & Whistle United both facing a fight to stay in the division, their meeting at Leafy Lane will be seen as a relegation six-pointer.

Melksham-based Pig & Whistle have not featured in a league match since late November.

North Star B should have few problems in keeping their third division status, however the same can’t be said about Crossblades FC.

With just goal difference keeping them out of the drop zone Tim Chilton’s relegation threatened side travel to Beversbrook hoping for a repeat of the 4-1 scoreline the last time the teams met.

Worton & Cheverell have suffered from a lack of activity over the last few months and with a home match on the horizon against Wren FC, Chris Cole’s side could be set for another free week unless there is a marked improvement in the weather which has left their West Lavington pitch waterlogged over the last month or so.
