BATH captain Stuart Hooper has signed a one-year extension to his contract at the Rec.

The 32-year-old lock, who signed for Bath from Leeds Carnegie in 2008, has followed in the footsteps of a host of other Rec stars in recent weeks by commiting his long-term future to the club.

Hooper, who has been captain since 2011, said: “This was not a tough call for me. I love leading this squad and am proud to do so, so signing on again was a great moment.

"Bath is a very exciting place to be, and playing my part in helping this great Club grow is a genuine honour.”

Head Coach Mike Ford added: “Hoops is a fantastic leader and has real presence, so to extend his contract is a big plus for us.

"He is massively respected by everyone at Bath Rugby and is playing arguably the best rugby of his career. Needless to say, we are extremely pleased he will be here next season.”
