JUST one fish separated the top five anglers in Sunday’s Wilts Angling Open match at Todber Manor, writes COLIN SCULL.

Top honours went to Roland Lucas, from Frome, with 40 lb of carp, ahead of Mark Harper, of Preston Innovation Thatchers, with 34 lb of carp. Stuart White, from Chippenham, was third with 33 lb 14 oz of carp.

Other placings: 4. Mick Martin Trowbridge 33 lb 0 oz; 5. Pete Neate Holt 32 lb 8 oz; 6. Liam Braddell Chippenham 24 lb 0 oz.

THE inter club match between Lavington and Airsprung was fished in strong winds, rain, sleet and hail at Merritts Lake on Sunday, where Joe Sheppard from Frome carried off 124 lb 8 oz of carp for a runaway win.

Kevin Grant, from Trowbridge, was next with 33 lb 3 oz of carp, with Mark Easey, from West Lavington, third with 12 lb 4 oz of carp and small roach.

Other placings: 4. Jim Butcher Bradford 9 lb 12 oz; 5. Terry Fell Devizes 9 lb; 6. Tony Weekes Market Lavington 8 lb 4 oz.

THE inter club event between Avon and Pucklechurch was switched from the flooded River Avon to the Kings Arms stretch of the Kennet & Avon canal.

Avon took team honours with 16 lb 6 oz to Pucklechurch’s 10 lb 15 oz, while Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, fishing for Avon , was top individual with 5 lb 0 oz taken of skimmers.

John Carty, of Avon, was runner up with 4 lb 2 oz of skimmers and Bob Wiltshire, of Pucklechurch, was third with 3 lb 4 oz of perch, roach and skimmers.

Other placings: Rob Kepner Avon 2 lb 12 oz; 5. Mark Sheppard Pucklechurch and Dave Humphries Pucklechurch 2 lb 10 oz 8 dm each..

ANDY Power, of Preston Innovation Thatchers, took top spot in Viaduct Fishery’s Thursday Open with a carp catch weighing 133 lb.

Dave Bancroft, from Trowbridge, of Wilts Angling, took runner up spot with 55 lb 13 oz of carp and skimmers, while his silvers catch of 16 lb 1 oz took that prize. Craig Davies, of Westerleigh, was third with 46 lb of carp.
