OGBOURNE Maizey international rider Rebecca Howard scooped two prizes at the Equine Canada Annual Awards Gala, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Howard, whose horses are based with New Zealand internationals Tim and Jonelle Price at Mildenhall, and horse Riddle Master were crowned Canadian Equestrian of the Year and Canadian Bred Horse of the Year respectively.

The duo consistently performed across the 2013 eventing calendar, finishing third in the hotly-contested CIC three-star class at the Barbury International Horse Trials in July.

They also had successful completions at Badminton and their first Burghley trials, finishing 12th at both, which earned Riddle Master a ranking of 13th place in the 2013 FEI World Horse rankings.

Howard, from British Columbia, represented her country at the 2012 Olympics after which they relocated to Wiltshire having been based in the USA since 2001.

The 34 year old said: “I am honoured to receive this award and would like to thank Equine Canada for the recognition.

“I am also delighted for Caroline Blazely, who owns Rupert (Riddle Master). “Caroline has been such an incredible support to me and believed in us from our outset.’’

Hartpury continues to be a happy hunting ground for Chippenham’s Alicia Hawker who returned to the college for the second Baileys Jumping and Style (JAS) fixture of the year and again won the Open section with Nankin Des Ruettes on Saturday.

The 19 year old from Hullavington and her chestnut gelding won the title with a strong style mark of 12 and a faultless jumping round.
