THREE of this season's Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy semi-finalists are now known.

With third division promotion hopefuls Sportzcoach Dragonz United and Premier Division leaders The Castle already through to the last four they will be joined by Sutton Benger, who ended the hopes of Chippenham West End thanks to a 2-0 victory over their local rivals on the 3G pitch at Stanley Park in what was the only fixture from the S.K Fruits Ltd, Chippenham Sunday League that survived the weather at the weekend.

The original tie at the end of January was played in torrential rain and was abandoned after 67 minutes with Benger holding a slender 3-2 lead.

Incredibly, after weeks of rain that had left pitches in the area saturated and unplayable, the match was played in brilliant sunshine but couldn’t provide the excitement of the first meeting.

West End, who are currently bottom of Division One were looking to build on cup wins over AFC Avellinos and Southwick Wanderers, but with key players suspended they were unable to claim the scalp of another second division outfit as Benger struck two first-half goals to book their spot in the semi-final line-up.

Nathan Farrell put Benger ahead when he won his one-on-one contest with the Benger keeper and the tie was won before half time thanks to a quality free kick from James Weston whose spectacular finish sealed West End’s fate.

With Sportzcoach, Castle and Benger now safely through to the semi’s they will have to wait a while longer before finding out who will join them as the remaining quarter-final tie between Pig & Whistle United and Worton & Cheverell which has suffered two postponements has yet to be rescheduled.
