TROWBRIDGE head coach Steve Ojomoh says his squad are desperate to crown an historic season by making a fairytale appearance at the home of English rugby.

Saturday’s 20-15 victory over Devon visitors Ivybridge in the South West Intermediate Cup final sent the Doric Park side into the last four of the national Intermediate competition – just one victory away from a showpiece final at Twickenham in May.

Tries from skipper Matt Howard and replacement Mark Durant and ten points from centre Lloyd Davis mean Trowbridge will face the side to emerge from the London & South East section in the semi final on April 19.

Guildford and Ealing’s Ealing’s Old Priorian are still to do battle for that regional prize, with the draw for home advantage in the semi-final against Trowbridge taking place on Tuesday, March 11.

Ojomoh, capped 12 times by England and a veteran of Five Nations Championship and Rugby World Cup campaigns as well as a plethora of major Twickenham cup finals during his glittering playing career with Bath, said: “We just want to keep going, we don’t want it to end. We want the big prize.

“We’re all desperate to get to the home of English rugby – but it’s still a long way off.’’ He added: “It’s wonderful and it’s brought a whole new level of attitude at the club.

“It’s taken a couple of days to calm down from it all but on Tuesday, we had our biggest attendance at training since we moved to the new ground (Doric Park at the start of this season).’’

Trowbridge are also in the running for promotion from Southern Counties South, meaning the end of the season could see them battling for honours on two fronts.

Ojomoh said: “If we play our cards right we could end up playing for prizes for several weeks in a row but, for now, it’s about making sure we do what we need to do in the next game (Ivel Barbarians at home tomorrow).’’
