MATT Rusling’s Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves look to be heading for the quarter finals of this season’s Spring Cup after claiming a 4-0 victory away at fellow second division side Heytesbury who will have to be at their very best if they are to have any chance of turning things around when they go head-to-head in the second leg clash in three weeks' time.

Wanderers, who went into the game with a few key players missing, had the perfect start with Will Bayley putting them ahead on five minutes when he rounded the keeper and slotted home. Wanderers made it 2-0 on 30 minutes, Bayley scoring his second after being put through by Billal Kalamori.

Heytesbury had little to offer as they looked to get back in the game and it was little surprise that Wanderers increased their lead with Joe Walker scoring a sublime overhead effort after picking up a Nathan Olaz throw.

With 10 minutes remaining Wanderers effectively killed off the tie when Bayley e latched onto a long ball from the faultless stand in centre half Jack Heard to round the keeper to score his third and Wanderers' fourth of the afternoon.

Polenez Westbury 1 The Stiffs 0

THE bottom two sides in Division Three were paired together in what promised to be a fascinating first round tie and it was Polenez Westbury who will take an advantage into the second leg, even if it will be a slender one after overcoming The Stiffs 1-0.

Modul Abraham' first-half goal was enough to give Polenez a hard-fought victory over Ade Giles side who will have a good chance of turning things around when the teams meet in the return leg.

Trowbridge Rangers 6 The Lamb Reserves 2

TROWBRIDGE Rangers will feel that they have one foot in the quarter-finals stages of the Spring Cup after they saw off local rivals and Division Three stablemates Lamb Reserves 6-2 to take a four goal lead into their second leg clash later this month.

Lamb led through a Kieran Palmer goal but went into the break trailing 2-1 as goals from Sam Miller and Dan Moore put Rangers in front.

The second half saw Rangers up the pace and further goals from Ross Mather, Jordan Field, Craig Player and a second from Moore as good as killed the tie off before TJ Buckle added a second for the Lamb.
