CHIPPENHAM Town’s Bryan Smith says his Bluebirds teammates are going in to every game full of belief at the moment.

Town have hit a patch of positive form in the Calor League Premier Division and midfielder Smith, who joined the club in December, insists that he hasn’t known anything other than sky-high confidence from his side during his spell at Hardenhuish Park.

“Even at St Albans (a 1-0 defeat last month), we were happy – we lost 1-0 but we were still happy with how we played and in terms of performances, we're starting to click,” said Smith.

“The changing room is fantastic. I came in December and there's not been much movement since and we’re certainly clicking as a bunch.

“Confidence was never actually low – they’re all a bunch of confident boys.

“But when you start getting results, everyone starts buzzing then and you feel that we've always got a chance.”

The Bluebirds’ home record shows four wins in the last five games at home and Smith says that Chippenham are delighted with their home form, despite the bobbly Hardenhuish Park surface hindering their passing game.

He added: “Obviously, we'd love to play on Wembley every week but financially, the club need the three teams playing on here.

“We’d love to play football all day but you can’t always do that on pitches like ours. But we're winning on it, so you can't grumble too much.

“You do have to adapt, and so do other teams when they come here, so it's the same for both and thankfully, we're coming out on top at the moment.”
