FROME Town chief Adrian Foster paid tribute to a rock-solid performance from his side as they recorded up a comfortable victory over Hitchin Town last weekend.

Early goals from Tim Stephenson and Ben Wood saw the Robins see off their Hertfordshire opponents at Badgers Hill, with Frome notching up a fourth win in six games in the Calor League Premier Division.

Foster was delighted to see his team keep a clean sheet and thinks that his players deserve credit for their hard-working display.

“In the first 30 minutes we played ever so well, moving the ball around and getting ourselves two goals,” said the Frome manager.

“They came back into it for about 15 minutes after that and I thought that they were going to cause us a few problems in the second half but that never happened.

“We were solid all over the pitch and they never had a shot on target. The lads worked really hard again and they deserve a lot of credit for that.

“It was a good performance and hopefully we can carry on working like that because if we do, we’ll carry on picking up three points.

“We’re going in to every game with the same attitude and it’s good to see.”

Defender Stephenson poked home to put Frome in front with just nine minutes on the clock after Hitchin goalie Tahj Bell failed to gather Wood’s corner.

Then just three minutes later, it was 2-0 when Wood fired a shot past Bell after Ricky Hulbert’s blocked shot ran to the Robins man just outside the area.

Frome travel to ninth-placed Hungerford Town tomorrow and will be without the suspended Rhys Baggridge.

Foster added: “It’s going to be a tough game. Hungerford got a good result in the week, beating Cambridge 3-2, and they’re a well-organised side but we’ll be confident.”
