BEN Harrison is happy to keep on progressing through tournaments when his ‘A-game’ isn’t quite there.

The 22-year-old, from Hawkeridge, made it through to the last four at Saturday’s Snookerbacker Classic Grand Finals, beating Zack Richardson (4-3) and Sydney Wilson (4-2) before losing his semi-final to runner-up Mitchell Mann in Gloucester.

On Sunday, Harrison moved a step closer to challenging for the English amateur title for a second successive year, booking his place in April’s Southern section finals at Sunday’s qualifiers in Martock, Somerset.

“I got to the semi-finals, so I won free Q School entry and on Saturday, I drove over to Martock from Gloucester and got into the Southern finals in the English amateur again – but I played horrendously both days,” said Harrison.

“I think it was because I’ve been working so hard recently and I don’t know how I managed to keep winning games.

“But I can’t complain because hopefully it means that my B-game has gotten stronger – when I actually start playing half-decently, maybe I’ll be dangerous.”
