BLUEBIRDS boss Mark Collier is pleased to have linked back up with Swindon Town defender Aaron Oakley.

After briefly returning to the County Ground, the 19-year-old centre-back is back with Town for another month-long loan period – his third of the season so far.

Oakley slotted straight back in to the heart of the defence at Bedford and Collier says he will be taking an interest in the defender’s future at Swindon, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

“He balances off the centre-backs really. We’ve got lots of left-footed centre-backs but obviously, him being a right-footer helps us no end really,” said Collier.

“Bryan Smith sat in there and did a job there for a couple of games but it’s not Bryan’s preferred position, so it’s good to get Aaron back.

“I think he’s going to play six games in the month he’s here and hopefully, they’ll be good games.

“I did speak to him after he’d gone back and I did say to him to not just go and train at Swindon Town – he needs to keep playing football matches.

“I don’t know what the situation is with his contract – I don’t know if he’ll get a new one at Swindon or he’ll be released – but there are always scouts looking at people at this level.

“He can only do himself favours by playing every week. He’s put in a confident performance last weekend and long may that continue.”

Oakley’s latest loan spell was funded by a donation of around £400 from the Chippenham Town Supporters’ Club and director Richard Chappell.
