They are about to start this final race

5:22pm

Oscar Hill has been withdrawn, having bolted across the course with poor Tom O'Brien

5:21pm

Barry Geraghty and Tom Scudamore will be hoping to overtake Ruby Walsh in the Boodles Leading Rider standings, by having four wins in total. However, they would have to win this to overtake Walsh.

5:14pm

The runners are just going down to the start

5:14pm

News has just come in that there are only 22 winning tickets out of 1.2 million who entered today's Place Pot. Those 22 win an incredible £44,000!

5:05pm

Alan King has the exciting eight-year-old Raya Star, who will be ridden by Choc Thornton.

5:04pm

Nicky Henderson has French Opera, who will be ridden by Nico de Boinville, and Tanks For That, who will be ridden by Barry Geraghty.

4:56pm

The last race of the 2014 Cheltenham Festival is the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual, which goes off at 5.15pm.

4:54pm

If this is a marker for an up-and-coming jockey, then we should all watch out for Mikey Fogarty, who gave Don Poli some ride there

4:49pm

They flattened that hurdle

4:48pm

They are all closely bunched but Dolatulo leads

4:48pm

Dolatulo is in third

4:47pm

Vieux Lion Rouge is in second for Tom Bellamy

4:47pm

The Disengager leads early on

4:46pm

And they're off...

4:46pm

There was a false start there but we are nearing a re-start

4:43pm

The conditional jockeys are gearing up for this now, we are close to the start.

4:40pm

They are just making their way down to the start now

4:40pm

Lambourn trainer Warren Greatrex has Dolatulo in this, who will be ridden by Gavin Sheehan.

4:39pm

Henderson also has Une Artiste, who was a Festival Winner in 2012, and will be ridden by Jeremiah McGrath. His third runner is One Lucky Lady, ridden by Peter Carberry.

4:36pm

The favourite in this is Full Shift, trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Nico De Boinville. This would be some week for De Boinville if he could land this, having already had a win on Whisper on Wednesday.

4:36pm

This is run over 2m 4f 110y and there are 24 runners going to post today.

4:35pm

The penultimate race of the day is the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle.

4:14pm

Double Bank fell, as did Ockey De Neulliac

4:13pm

Carsonstown Boy leads

4:13pm

And they're off...

4:13pm

They are approaching the start

4:13pm

The Amateurs will be as nervous about this as the jockeys were about the Gold Cup

4:11pm

They are down near the start now. Harbour Court goes off favourite at 5/1

4:06pm

The jockeys are on and will be making their way down to the start shortly

4:02pm

Before yesterday, trainer Jim Culloty had not had a winner for eight months. Yesterday he had a winner with Spring Heeled, and he has just won the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Lord Windermere. Culloty is most famous for riding Best Mate to three Gold Cup victories, in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

4:01pm

My picks are Harbour Court and Pearlysteps, but there are lots that could make a case.

4:01pm

There are no local trainers or jockeys in this.

3:59pm

This is also called the ‘Amateurs Gold Cup’. It is run over 3m 2f 110y, and has 24 runners. This is the one the Amateur jockeys really want to win, and with a big field over the Gold Cup course, it’s set to be a great race.

3:59pm

Now we can build up to the fifth race of the day, the CGA Foxhunter Steeple Chase Challenge Cup

3:59pm

That took a long time!

3:59pm

Winning Jockey: Davy Russell

Winning Trainer: Jim Culloty

3:59pm

The places remain unaltered

3:54pm

Still no news but the horses have returned to the stables

3:50pm

We are still waiting on the result

3:48pm

This has been the most bizarre day of racing.

3:47pm

The result is not official. The stewards are looking into a possible interference between the first, second and third horses

3:46pm

Head-On shot of that finish is unbelievable. Front three veered to their right, Bobs Worth to his left.

3:44pm

Stewards Enquiry now

3:43pm

Full Result:

1. Lord Windermere

2. On His Own

3. The Giant Bolster

4. Silviniaco Conti

3:43pm

Photo Finish but it does look like Lord Windermere has it, cameras are trained on him

3:42pm

It's a win for Lord Windermere who was at the back for a lot of that!

3:42pm

Three came up on the standside

3:42pm

Neither will win

3:42pm

They are really battling but Silviniaco Conti leads

3:41pm

3:40pm

They are nearing the fifth from home

3:40pm

Last Instalment has fallen

3:40pm

Teaforthree still leads

3:40pm

Triolo D'Alene on the rails

3:40pm

The two favourites are tracking the leaders in the middle

3:39pm

Katenko ridden along

3:39pm

Teaforthree still leads

3:39pm

They are over halfway now

3:39pm

Bobs Worth and Silviniaco Conti are in the middle of the pack

3:39pm

Teaforthree, On His Own and Last Instalment are the first three

3:39pm

The Giant Bolster is being ridden along

3:39pm

They are all still standing

3:38pm

Silviniaco Conti is now in the middle of the pack

3:38pm

Last Instalment now leads

3:38pm

Bobs Worth and Silviniaco Conti ridden away from the previous fence

3:37pm

On His Own still leads

3:37pm

Lord Windermere is at the back

3:37pm

Not a great jump for Bobs Worth

3:37pm

Teaforthree leads

3:36pm

On His Own now leads for David Casey

3:36pm

Silviniaco Conti is on the rails, Bobs Worth behind him

3:36pm

3:36pm

Teaforthree leads with Knockara Beau

3:35pm

22 fences to jump

3:35pm

And they're off...good start this time

3:35pm

Let's hope it is third time lucky

3:35pm

Cloudy Too was too far in front

3:34pm

And it's another false start!

3:34pm

They are back at the start

3:33pm

None of them jumped the first but Knockara Beau and Silviniaco Conti had started well

3:33pm

Houblon Des Obeaux had veered off the track there

3:32pm

No it's a false start!!

3:32pm

And they're off...

3:31pm

The runners are at the start

3:30pm

50 years ago, Arkle won the Gold Cup. 10 years ago Best Mate won his third Gold Cup. What do we have in store today?

3:29pm

Triolo D'Alene won the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury in November, could he cause the upset today?

3:28pm

Teaforthree goes in this, he was third in the 2013 Grand National.

3:28pm

Teaforthree goes in this, he was third in the 2013 Grand National.

3:28pm

If you recognise the name of Knockara Beau, it is because he beat Big Buck's in the Cleeve Hurdle in January. He has similarly long odds today.

3:27pm

Jonathan England is getting his first ride, he is on Cloudy Too

3:26pm

The parade in front of the Grandstand has begun

3:26pm

Bobs Worth is number 1, will he finish in that position?

3:24pm

The Giant Bolster could run well, he has a good record at Cheltenham

3:22pm

In addition to Bobs Worth, Nicky Henderson has Triolo D’Alene running.  He is currently fourth favourite for the Grand National, and will be ridden by Champion Jockey AP McCoy.

3:19pm

Let’s see what happened in last year’s race, when there were just 9 runners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3q6tWuMokk (skip to 1min 45 secs for the start of the race)

3:19pm

Last year’s winner Bobs Worth is the favourite at 6/4, with Paul Nicholls’ Silviniaco Conti second-favourite at 11/4.

3:19pm

There are 22 fences.

3:18pm

So, the Gold Cup is run over 3m 2½ furlongs, and 13 horses will go to post. The non-runner announced this morning was First Lieutenant.

3:18pm

News has come in on Ruby Walsh's injury, it's a compound fracture of the upper arm.

3:17pm

The Gold Cup has a total prize fund of £574,760, with £250,480 going to the winning owner.

3:16pm

Winning trainer Noel Meade said he always thought Very Wood would run well here.

3:15pm

It is likely that this will be delayed until about 3:30pm, after the Albert Bartlett started about 12 minutes late

3:14pm

Surely there can't be any more drama today can there? After Ruby Walsh goes to hospital, favourite Briar Hill falls, the bizarre Daryl Jacobs incident and a 33-1 winner, what could be next?

3:13pm

Up next is the big one, the race that all the fans are here to see. It is the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.

3:02pm

Winning Jockey: Paul Carberry

Winning Trainer: Noel Meade

3:02pm

Full Result:

1. Very Wood

2. Deputy Dan

3. Apache Jack

2:59pm

Photo finish for second place

2:59pm

Very Wood wins it!

2:58pm

2:58pm

Apache Jack may catch him

2:58pm

But Deputy Dan is streaking ahead

2:58pm

2:58pm

Kings Palace and Deputy Dan are the front two

2:58pm

Its the second last

2:58pm

Deputy Dan and Captain Cutter going well

2:57pm

Kings Palace still leads

2:57pm

Rydon Pynes also fell

2:57pm

That has been met with huge groans from the crowd

2:56pm

Briar Hill has fallen

2:56pm

The Job Is Right, Masters Hill, Captain Cutter and Briar Hill going well

2:56pm

One more circuit to go

2:56pm

Prince Siegfried and Moss Park are at the back

2:55pm

Briar Hill is tracking the leaders

2:55pm

Kings Palace and Urban Hymn dispute the lead

2:55pm

Captain Cutter is being held up

2:54pm

Urban Hymn now leads

2:54pm

The Job Is Right is tucked behind Kings Palace

2:53pm

Kings Palace is the early leader

2:53pm

And they're off...

2:52pm

An 11 minute delay so far, won't be great for the hot-headed horses

2:52pm

An 11 minute delay so far, won't be great for the hot-headed horses

2:50pm

Here is a link to a vine of the incident, it's pretty nasty:

https://vine.co/v/MbjPd5EavOm

2:49pm

The field is approaching the start now

2:47pm

Some awful photos and videos appearing on Twitter of that fall

2:46pm

Port Melon was withdrawn

2:44pm

This delayed start might hinder some horses, but most are looking relaxed.

2:44pm

Daryl Jacob was thrown into the rails by his mount Port Melon, but is conscious.

2:42pm

Daryl Jacob is receiving medical attention, causing a delay

2:42pm

The rest of the field are approaching the start.

2:41pm

Port Melon apparently misbehaved in front of the stands, causing jockey Daryl Jacob to fall. He is still on the ground.

2:39pm

Sam Twiston-Davies' horse Cogry not looking the most settled before the start

2:38pm

Briar Hill will go off favourite at 2/1

2:37pm

They are just going down to the start now

2:34pm

Kings Palace is another very interesting contender, and jockey Tom Scudamore has had a good week so far for trainer David Pipe.

2:33pm

There are two locally-trained horses in this, Captain Cutter (Nicky Henderson) and Madness Light (Warren Greatrex).

2:33pm

There have been lots of jockey changes since Ruby Walsh was taken to hospital, but his next two rides will definitely be riddene by David Casey (that means On His Own in the Gold Cup)

2:32pm

Briar Hill is the favourite, having been unbeaten over hurdles in three starts. The Willie Mullins-trained horse won the Champion Bumper here in 2013, and will be ridden by David Casey.

2:31pm

The non-runner for this is Blakemount, trained by Sue Smith (who won the 2013 Grand National with Aurora’s Encore).

2:31pm

Winner of the last race, Lac Fontana:Wiltshire Times:

2:29pm

The third race of the day is the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, a Grade 1 over 3m, with 19 runners.

2:09pm

Master Of The Game leads

2:08pm

And they're off...

2:05pm

Briar Hill will now be ridden by Paul Townend in the Albert Bartlett, after Ruby Walsh has been taken to hospital.

2:05pm

Cheltenian is going off favourite at 11/2

2:04pm

They are about to start.

2:04pm

Big field of 28!

2:04pm

AP McCoy rides Minella Foru, trained by Eddie Harty and owned by his boss JP McManus.

2:04pm

Alan King has Montbazon, who will be ridden by Choc Thornton.

2:01pm

Nicky Henderson has three in this: Lyvius, Cash and Go, and Makari.

2:01pm

Nicky Henderson has three in this: Lyvius, Cash and Go, and Makari.

1:55pm

The favourite for this is Cheltenian, trained by Philip Hobbs and ridden by Richard Johnson. The pair had a victory yesterday with Fingal Bay in the Pertemps.

1:55pm

Ruby Walsh is out! He has been replaced by David Casey in the next race. We will wait to hear who will replace him on Briar Hill in the Albert Bartlett.

1:54pm

The second race of the day is the fiercely competitive Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle, which is for five year olds and upwards over 2m 1f.

1:53pm

This was Davy Russell riding in Tiger Roll after the win:Wiltshire Times:

1:52pm

No news on Ruby Walsh as yet, but he is meant to be riding Arctic Fire in the next race.

1:38pm

That was some ride by Daryl Jacob, very similar to Rishi Pasad in yesterday's Charity Race

1:37pm

That fall looked nasty, waiting for news on Ruby Walsh

1:36pm

Winning Jockey: Davy Russell

Winning Trainer: Gordon Elliott

1:36pm

Full Result:

1. Tiger Roll

2. Kentucky Hyden

3. Guitar Pete

4. Calipto

1:36pm

Calipto's jockey, Daryl Jacob, lost his irons

1:35pm

Kentucky Hyden very tired, Tiger Roll will win

1:35pm

Tiger Roll coming up

1:34pm

Guitar Pete now leads, with Kentucky Hyden

1:34pm

AP McCoy just in the lead on Plinth

1:34pm

There are four in a pack at the front

1:34pm

Kentucky Hyden leads

1:33pm

Kentucky Hyden is up alongside Plinth

1:33pm

Plinth now leads

1:33pm

Broughton still being held up at the rear of the field

1:33pm

The leader is Royal Irish Hussar

1:33pm

The two horses have galloped away

1:32pm

Ruby Walsh was on the latter, took a while to get up but is now on his feet

1:32pm

Abyssial takes a heavy fall, Adriana Des Mottes brought down

1:32pm

Broughton is being held up

1:32pm

Guitar Pete is in second, Plinth in third

1:31pm

The leader is Abbyssial

1:31pm

Royal Irish Hussar not the best start

1:31pm

And they're off...

1:31pm

James Best is back on board, and they are ready to start

1:31pm

Amoruccio's saddle just being adjusted before the start

1:29pm

They are circling near the start.

1:29pm

Nicky Henderson has won this a record five times, can he do it again? We are about to find out.

1:26pm

The horses are just making their way down to the start

1:26pm

Royal Irish Hussar was as long as 14/1 last weekend so is a big market mover

1:25pm

The odds are changing all the time ahead of the first race, with Royal Irish Hussar currently 11/2, Calipto now 6/1 and Broughton 7/1

1:24pm

My picks from the field are Pearl Castle and Broughton, both of which won their last run out.

Here was Broughton just now in the Paddock:Wiltshire Times:

1:22pm

However, in recent days and even hours, two horses have overtaken Calipto in the betting, Royal Irish Hussar and Broughton.

1:20pm

The favourite leading into this had been Calipto, trained by Paul Nicholls. The man from Ditcheat has had a poor weak by anyone’s standards, only notching up three seconds and one fourth. He will certainly be hoping for a better day today, and it would make a great start if this smart prospect performs.

1:20pm

The horses are all in the paddock, being so young they are a leggy lot. Although inexperienced when they run in this, past winners have gone on to be very good, ith Celestial Halo, Katchit and Zarkandar a few of the recent winners.

1:18pm

The race was won last year by the Dessie Hughes-trained Our Conor, who sadly suffered a fatal fall on Tuesday.

1:16pm

Nicky Henderson has Kentucky Hyden and Royal Irish Hussar in this, and AP McCoy rides Plinth.

1:15pm

The first race of the day, at 1.30pm, is the JCB Triumph Hurdle. This is a Grade 1 run over 2m1f, for juvenile four year olds.

1:00pm

Here is the racecard for today:

1.30 JCB Triumph Hurdle

2.05 Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle

2.40 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle

3.20 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup

4.00 CGA Foxhunter Steep Chase

4.40 Martin Pipe (Conditional Jockeys)

5.15 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual

12:57pm

It's a similar story with the three leading trainers, Willie Mullins, David Pipe and Jonjo O’Neill, who have each had 3 wins.

12:54pm

There is currently a three-way tie in the Boodles Leading Rider standings, between Ruby Walsh, Barry Geraghty and Tom Scudamore, each with three wins.

12:51pm

It is sold out today, meaning there should be 67,500 people in attendance! Last year it was miserable weather, so this is much more pleasant for the big crowds.

12:49pm

The Official Going is Good, Good to Soft in Places.

12:44pm

It is now a bright, sunny day, just as it should be on Gold Cup Day.

12:44pm

The sun has come out to burn off the fog from this morning. Here is what the view of the racecourse was at 10 o’clock:Wiltshire Times:

12:34pm

With seven races to look forward to today, I’d love to know if you’re watching and who you are backing. Get in touch either by commenting on this feed or tweet using the hashtag #adverfest or contact me directly @lauralambert8

12:32pm

We’ve already had three days of brilliant racing, and today is looking equally exciting, if not more so! Nicky Henderson will be hoping Bobs Worth can defend the Gold Cup at 3.20, but the gutsy bay is sure to have to put in a fight against Silviniaco Conti and other contenders.

12:30pm

Welcome to the Swindon Advertiser live text feed of the fourth and final day of the Cheltenham Festival.

12:00pm
