And that brings proceedings to an end.
A couple of late goals may have produced a few cheers late on to lift the mood but it's another miserable result against Bideford at Hardenhuish Park for the Bluebirds.
Things never really clicked for the home side and up against dangerous opposition, they were taken apart as their unbeaten home run was brought to an end.
It's a set-back for Collier's men and they go again next Tuesday evening when they make the short trip to Hungerford Town
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 2 BIDEFORD 4
Bideford's Ian Sampson is booked for time-wasting
We're in to the final minute but a Bideford player was down for a lenghty spell after that goal, meaning we'll have a few minutes of injury time
It'd be a whopper of a late comeback! King gets in down the left flank once again and his ball into the box causes a scramble on the line, allowing Alan Griffin to toe-poke over the line to pull another one back
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 2 BIDEFORD 4
The Bluebirds pull one back as Guthrie's cross from the right flank is nodded in by Rob Dean
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 1 BIDEFORD 4
Corey King embarks on a blazing run, breezing past two defenders before laying the ball in to Griffin but his strike is well-saved by the Bideford goalie
Chippenham put together a nice move but it ends with Monks' cross being gathered by keeper Oliver
So the Bluebirds survive going five goals down. There's eight minutes of normal time remaining
SAVED by Ben John.
Downing bursts into the area and gets the slightest of trips by Harley Purnell. The winger carries on and is ready to cut the ball back from the byline but referee Lucie points to the spot!
Bideford skipper Hockley goes to complete his hat-trick but keeper John dives to save well low to his right
PENALTY TO BIDEFORD
Bideford grab their fourth after a period of absolute chaos in the Chippenham area.
The visitors lay siege to the Bluebirds goal, with John tipping away a ball in from Duff and striker Squire smacking an effort against the crossbar on the volley.
The ball is cleared but then worked back into the area again, with Downing's low effort through a crowd of players taking a touch off Matt Hockley on its way into the bottom corner
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0 BIDEFORD 4
Bryan Smith comes on for Jake Simpson
We're past the hour mark and there's still little sign of a Bluebirds fightback - Bideford well in control
Meanwhile, Greg Tindle has been booked, along with Bideford's Owen Howe, as the two tussled off the ball
Another update on that fan hurt in the stands - the man was hit by a stray ball and then hit his head on a post in front of him.
He's sustained some nasty cuts and will soon be on his way to the Great Western Hospital
Chippenham bring off Aaron Oakley, with Tyron Leigh coming on
Bideford have the ball in the net again but the flag goes up for offside. Sampson's ball in is controlled by Squire, with Duff then sweeping home but they were both ahead of the Bluebirds back line
The referee harshly penalised Chippenham's Dean for a high foot in the first half, so you can understand the home side's frustrations - you can't argue with that finish from Hockley though, as it was another corker
It's going from bad to worse for Chippenham and they're furious with referee Mark Lucie.
Bideford's Howe lofts his foot into the air to knock the ball away from the face of Oakley - the 6ft 5 defender.
Oakley and the Bluebirds hesistate, expecting the official to penalise the Robins for a high foot but the whistle never comes and midfielder Matt Hockley smacks a superb looping effort into the net
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0 BIDEFORD 3
I understand that a fan has slipped over behind the goal - they're being tended to by the stewards and the Chippenham physio
The Chippenham staff are dealing with that as the game kicks off
There's a delay to the second half as it looks as though someone may have fallen down in the stands behind the Chippenham goal
The two sides are on their way back out
The shouting from the inquest into that first half can be heard coming down the tunnel during the break
The first half has come to a close and it's been a disappointing day at the office so far for Mark Collier's men.
Bideford's offensive style has caused no end of problems for the Bluebirds back line and at the other end, the hosts have struggled to find their rhythm and hit back.
There's work to be done if Chippenham are to haul themselves back into this game. Stick with Bluebirds Live for all of the action from the second half
HALF-TIME: CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0 BIDEFORD 2
A great save from John stops Duff making it 3-0! A smart ball forward and a dummy from Squire sees the midfielder steal into the box and sweep an effort goalwards but the Chippenham goalie shows some smart reactions to stick out an arm and block the shot
Alan Griffin wrestles Ian Sampson out of the way and goes for the top corner from range but his strike whistles over
Simpson's corner is headed by Oakley but the defender can't keep his effort down
That was a moment of real frustration for the Bluebirds and against the dangerous attacking capabilites of Bideford, the hosts have got a bit of a mountain to climb now
A mix-up in the Bluebirds back line gifts the visitors a second goal.
John charges off his line to punch a high ball but with Tindle in front of him, the two collide, allowing Squire to nod backwards.
His flick on givees Owen Howe an open goal to nod into and the strike gleefully obliges
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0 BIDEFORD 2
And now a long ball all the way from the back sees striker Howe get in behind but as he bears down on goal, a well-timed challenge from Aaron Oakley nicks the ball away and allows John to gather
Bideford threaten again. A lofted ball from Downing loops over the heads of the Chippenham defence, allowing Howe to connect but he drags his shot wide of the post from inside the area
James Guthrie is booked for chopping down Duff
Joe McClennan's afternoon is over as the injured winger comes off for Corey King
But the winger hobbles back on and looks like he'll be fine to continue for the meantime
We've just had a lenghty break after McClennan went down off the ball - he looked in some distress and is limping after coming to the sideline
Chippenham are beginning to work their way back into this game with a spell of pressure but Bideford are defending resolutely
Phillips capitalises on a slip by Chris McGrath and eventually feeds Dean, who sets up Jake Simpson.
The midfielder drags his strike from the edge of the area wide, though
From a Matty Bye corner, Sean Downing rises highest but his header flies well wide of the upright
James Guthrie, who was limping slightly after and earlier challenge, is down in need of treatment
Bideford break down the right wing and Craig Duff's powerful strike is smartly parried away by John
The chaotic pace is still continuing and there have been plenty of nice passing moves from the Bluebirds.
But Bideford's front three look dangerous every time they come forward - can Chippenham hit back after that bolt from the blue?
And Bideford almost make it 2-0! The Bluebirds defence is at sixes and sevens and after Pete Monks can't get the proper contact on an attempted clearance, Kevin Squire slices a shot wide of the mark!
But Bideford go straight up the other end and take the lead with a cracker! A long ball breaks to Owen Howe and the striker has time and space to smack a swerving volley that dips over the reach of Ben John and screams into the net
CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0 BIDEFORD 1
Joe McClennen's superb ball sends Lee Phillips racing down the wing. The striker has time to set himself and deliver a deep cross, that's headed on by Rob Dean and deflected over the bar
It's a frenetic start, with both sides popping the ball around nicely
And we're off at Hardenhuish Park
Bideford will kick us off, going from left-to-right
And out they come!
The noise from down the tunnel cranks up a notch as the Bluebirds and the Robins emerge from the changing rooms
The two sides are back in the dressing rooms
Around 20 minutes to go til kick-off at Chippenham. Stick with Bluebirds Live for all of the action as it happens
So Bluebirds boss Collier has opted not to change a winning side, sending out the same team won comfortably at Bedford last weekend.
It's a glorious day at Hardenhuish Park and the hsts will surely be confident of putting a dent in Bideford's play-off hopes
BIDEFORD: Steve Oliver, Ian Sampson, Stephen Reed, Sean Downing, Chirs McGrath, Nick Milton, Matt Hockley (c), Matty Bye, Kevin Squire, Owen Howe, Craig Duff.
SUBS: Richard Groves, Danny SUllivan, Graham Mercica, Nick Barker, Ethan Phillips.
CHIPPENHAM TOWN TEAM TO PLAY BIDEFORD: Ben John, Harley Purnell, Pete Monks, Jake Simpson, Aaron Oakley, Greg Tindle, Joe McClennan, Rob Dean, Alan Griffin (c), Lee Phillips, James Guthrie.
SUBS: Tyron Leigh, Jon Beeden, Callum Wright, Corey King, Bryan Smith.
Bluebirds boss Mark Collier has confirmed that Iain Harvey has suffered a recurrence of a calf strain, which is why he misses out today.
Meanwhile, Chippenham are unchanged from the side that triumphed at Bedford last weekend
It's close to a fully-fit squad for Chippenham this afternoon. Tyron Leigh returns after missing last weekend's 3-0 win at Bedford through illness.
However, Iain Harvey isn't dully stripped and looks as though he'll miss out today - he was an unused substitute last Saturday. There's also no Kent Kauppinen, who'll likely be featuring for Corsham Town today.
We'll bring you this afternoon's teams as soon as we get them.
Visitors Bideford have launched a strong bid for promotion this season and are currently being kept outside of the play-off places on goal difference.
The Robins have tasted defeat in their last two outings, at the hands of Corby Town and Arlesey.
Mark Collier's men are unbeaten in five matches at home and are within touching distance of the likes of Truro City, Banbury United and Frome Town in the Calor League Premier Division table.
The sting of defeat took a long time to dissipate after that miserable afternoon in February and it might just be a bit of a revenge job today – particularly after the Bluebirds were also thrashed 4-1 down in Devon earlier this season.
The pain of that defeat was adequately summed up by this picture of former Bluebirds defender Ashley Williams.
The Bluebirds will be hoping to banish the spectre of one of the most difficult afternoons in their recent history today – 13 months ago, Bideford visited Hardenhuish Park and embarrassed the home side as they condemned Chippenham to a punishing 7-1 defeat.
As usual, get involved with Bluebirds Live this season and have your say on Chippenham Town's fortunes on and off the pitch.

Good afternoon from Hardenhuish Park. After two games on the road, at Arlesey Town and Bedford Town, Chippenham Town are back at Hardenhuish Park today as they host Bideford.
