Sutton Benger 2 Pig & Whistle United 1
THE other semi-final saw second division Sutton Benger overcome a brave challenge from hardworking and energetic third division Pig & Whistle United who made Mark Merriman’s side work very hard for a 2-1 win.
In what was an evenly-matched first 45 minutes it was Pig & Whistle who snatched the advantage when Ashley Fletcher gave them lead on the stroke of half time.
The second half remained tight but it was Benger who claimed the all important next goal, however it was a United player who scored it the unfortunate Steve Sims finding his own net to make it one each.
With both teams hunting down a winner it was Benger who struck gold with Rhys Merriman scoring the goal that gave Benger their 2-1 victory and put them through to their first ever Parr Trophy final.
