FOLLOWING the withdrawal of Biddestone Social earlier in the week, Premier Division winners Castle FC were guaranteed their place in the final of this seasons Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup.

But they had to wait until Sunday afternoon to find out if it would be second division FC Buscots or fourth division winners Corsham Centre Youth they meet in April’s final at Hardenhuish Park.

Castle will line up against Pete Ralph’s Corsham Centre side after they from behind to beat Buscots 2-1 in what was an entertaining contest at Stanley Park.

Within five minutes a long ball saw Buscots Phil Little get free, his first shot was parried by keeper Nick Gingell and as the ball rebounded to Little he calmly chipped the ball in for 1-0.

Corsham Centre then had the lion's share of the game for the rest of the half.

A great ball in from Sam Hodsell saw James Lye head wide from close in and only some excellent goalkeeping from James Baggott and poor finishing saw the half finish 1-0 in favour of Buscots.

From the restart Centre upped the pace of the game and were back on level terms in the 47th minute.

A foul on just outside the area on Ben Thomson saw him pick himself up to strike home a venomous shot which went in off the underside of the bar. The pressure was maintained and within five minutes Thomson had drilled home his and the Centres second.

Centre continued to dominate and only the heroics of keeper Baggott making excellent saves from Liam Ralph and Darrin Moss kept the score down.

Buscots did have the ball in the net but again but Nick Oram’s effort was adjudged to have been off side.

On 75 minutes Corsham Centre were awarded a penalty and Thomson stepped up to complete his hat-trick but having struck two wonder goals he smashed his effort from 12 yards against the bar and out of play.

Adam Shipman had the last chance of the game but when one on one with keeper he fired wide.
