CHIPPENHAM Town midfielder Rob Dean is set to go under the knife tomorrow as he begins his recovery from the horrific knee injury he suffered at Hungerford Town last week.

The 24-year-old requires a full knee reconstruction after suffering a severe dislocation as a result of a challenge with Hungerford's Ian Herring in last week's clash, which was subsequently abandoned.

Bluebirds boss Mark Collier was in contact with Dean in the lead up to Saturday's 2-0 loss at Chesham United and says that the injured Chippenham man is looking forward to leaving Swindon's Great Western Hospital.

"Rob's bored to tears, basically. He's still in hospital and he's waiting for his operation on Tuesday," said Collier.

"He needs a full reconstruction of the knee – everything else is okay. As soon as he can get that done, that will give him some light at the end of the tunnel.

"The doctors are keen to get on with it and it's good that he's going to be getting it done so quickly.

"We've sent him messages and he's had lots of cards coming to the club and things like that, so we wish him well."
