VICTORY in their penultimate league game at Bath side Walcot on Saturday will wrap up at least a promotion play-off for Trowbridge, after their comfortable home win on Saturday.

Their five-point victory against Dorchester in a scrappy encounter at Doric Park was started by Jackson Szabo’s try and Lloyd Davis’ conversion.

Jamie Morgan reduced arrears for Dorchester with a penalty, the only other score before half time.

Davis cancelled that out with a three-pointer after the break before the game was held up for some time by a serious leg injury to Dorchester vice captain Chris Miners, who was taken to hospital in Bath.

The match was moved to an adjacent pitch and Ashley Chalk crossed for a try, before Szabo added two more, Davis converting both.

Young centre Josh Frost came on as a substitute for his first team debut and Sam Edwards touched down for the last try that Davis again converted.

Trowbridge’s third team moved close to the Dorset & Wilts Three North title as they swept aside local rivals Warminster 2nd 44-14.

Jason Reed scored the opening try before George Leat kicked a penalty and captain Jake Hemingway crossed twice.

Leat’s score and a conversion from Ed Lamb made it 25-0 at the break.

Further scores arrived in the second half from Reed and a Henry Beer brace and conversion.
