NICK Blackwell notched up the 15th win of his professional career with a confident victory over Terry Carruthers in Bath last night.

The 23-year-old, from Trowbridge, showed off some of his most fearsome power punching as he comfortably saw off the challenge of former Prizerfighter finalist Carruthers at the Forum, notching up a 100-91 points victory.

But there was disappointment for Blackwell's Contender Gym stable-mates Gareth Heard and Luke Martin, who were both out-pointed.

Heard, 31, was left perplexed by referee Jeff Hinds' decision to give the nod to Halesowen's Keith Shield in a 39-38 decision, despite the Bradford on Avon man being the busier of the two fighters.

And Melksham heavyweight Martin, 29, was unable to get the better of James Oliphant, with the Wakefield man taking a 39-38 points victory.

Malmesbury's Joe Hughes lifted the International Masters light-welterweight title with a fine 100-89 win over Bulgrian Kristian Dochev whilst Bristol's Danny Butler successfully defended the English middleweight belt – formerly owned by Blackwell – by stopping Leicester fighter Martin Concepcion in the fourth round.

There were also wins for Bath's Mike Rose, Bristol's Pete Leworthy and Jason Gardiner, and Tom Duff.
