THE final league match of the season in Division Two saw Worton & Cheverell host Bradford United Reserves in what was an end-of-season dead rubber for both teams.

Bradford, for a third successive match, were involved in a goal fest. Having beaten Bratton 11-0 at the start of the month, they suffered a 9-0 defeat last Tuesday at Westwood News and a week later they were on the wrong end of a 6-3 scoreline that gave Worton back-to-back wins for the first time this term.

Bradford made a promising start and took the lead on three minutes when James Kellam put them ahead.

Worton were on level terms three minutes later, Craig Campbell restoring parity. a second from Campbell on 34 minutes gave Worton the lead and his hat-trick goal in the 44th minute put Paul Sperring’s side 3-1 up.

Worton increased their lead further on 57 minutes, Adam Bewley scoring to make it 4-1.

Elliott Hinton reduced the deficit for Bradford on 66 minutes when he scored from the penalty spot, but a second on the night from Bewley made it 5-2 on 77 minutes and two minutes later Ban Mason’s completed the villagers' half dozen.

With three minutes remaining Bradford were awarded their second penalty of the game and Lee Radwell, who was playing in his final game for the club, calmly tucked the ball away to complete the scoring on the night.
