CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Collier plotting course
MARK Collier says that he has already begun to lay the foundations for his Chippen-ham Town rebuild.
The Bluebirds boss, who takes his side into their final game of the season at St Neots Town on Saturday, is planning to reshape his squad this summer and says that he could be ready to announce a big signing for next season in the coming weeks.
Collier says that he and assistant manager Tom Jones will be holding talks with their current squad members following the conclusion of the campaign, with the Hardenhuish Park chief hopeful that he can revive the Bluebirds’ fortunes.
“Quite clearly, there’s a rebuild on the way,” said Collier.
“The club, for a club this size, has underachieved for a few years now and the chairman wants myself and Tom to put that right.
“The first priority was to keep this team in this division, which we managed to do, and now we’ve got to rebuild and make sure that we’ve got a side that’s able to be a force.
“We’re already talking to players now about coming next season and hopefully, in a few weeks’ time, we’ll be able to announce quite a big signing that we think will start the ball rolling for us.
“We need to make sure that we’re ready for the first game of next season and those plans are under way already.
“These players have underachieved and myself and Tom are going to sit down with them individually on the 29th, speak to them about our plans for next season and what their thoughts are, and we’ll start compiling a squad for next season.”
