WITH one match of the season remaining, Sportzcoach Dragons United chose the right time to move to the top of the Division Three table.

As long as Joe Hargreaves' side avoid defeat against their main challengers for the title Melksham Cosmos on Sunday morning they will be crowned champions.

Dragonz, who beat Old Road 7-1 on Wednesday evening, followed up that victory 24 hours later with a 2-0 triumph at Pig & Whistle United which took them to 48 points, level with Cosmos but thanks to their superior goal difference in pole position.

Sportzcoach took the lead inside the first minute when the unfortunate Andy Sayers put through his own net, although Ashley Barnett’s effort looked to be goalbound.

Their victory was confirmed in the second half when top scorer Dan Moore slotted home his 52nd goal of the campaign and wrap up win number 16 for his team.

FC North Wiltshire 4 Worton & Cheverell 0

FC NORTH Wiltshire, who saw their hopes of beating the drop boosted by a 3-2 victory at Pig & Whistle United on Tuesday evening, were back in action again 48 hours later when they hosted Worton & Cheverell.

North Wilts needed just one point to complete amazing escape act that at the start of April looked improbable.

But their late run of form continued as a 4-0 victory saw them claim a third straight win and with it third division survival.

Dan Deacon was the inspiration for North Wilts, his first half goal separated the teams at the interval.

He doubled his side's advantage with his second of the evening and he completed a well deserved hat-trick when he made it 4-0 after James Bamford had netted the third of the night for North Wilts.
