MELKSHAM Town’s Conigre ground staged the Division Three title decider between Sportzcoach Dragons United and Melksham Cosmos.

After 19 games each, the championship came down to a shootout between the rivals, who started the day on 48 points apiece.

Sportzcoach had the upper hand, knowing that due to the superior goal difference a draw would be good enough for them to be crowned champions.

Joe Hargreaves side, who had lost the reverse game 3-2, avenged that loss with a 2-1 which saw finish top of the pile.

Dan Kovacs was the star of the show for Sportzcoach as he stole the limelight from goal machine Dan Moore.

Kovacs gave his team the lead and he rifled home a great free kick to make it 2-0 before Alex Shaftoe got Cosmos back in the game before half time.

Despite an action-packed second half neither team could add to the goals and Sportzcoach were the side celebrating at the final whistle.

Crossblades FC 8 Old Road FC 2

CROSSBLADES FC, who started the day in the bottom two, conjured up an 8-2 victory at home to Old Road FC and as other results went the way of Tim Chilton’s side it meant that the Blades beat the drop at the expense of their opponents who lost out on goal difference.

Trebles for Carl Jacobi and Sam Thompson, plus singles from Ashley Bartels and Taylor Worthy made up the Blades' eight.

Both golas for Old Road, who were only 2-1 down at the break, were scored by James House.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club 6 Pig & Whistle United 1

TROWBRIDGE Town Supporters Club saved their best performance of the season for their final game at home to Pig & Whistle United who, until recently, had a chance of catching Christian Malford for third spot.

Three straight defeats in the last six days put paid to that. After losses to FC North Wiltshire and Sportzcoach Dragonz, Pig & Whistle suffered a 6-1 reverse away at the supporters’ club.

Dean Coles and Dave Strickland both hit three timers for Kevin Williams side while Rob O’Harrow was on target for United.

Worton & Cheverell 6 Wren FC 0

BOTTOM side Wren FC were unable to get the victory they needed at Worton & Cheverell (Sunday) that would have given them a chance of beating the drop.

What was a must-win game for Wren ended in a 6-0 defeat.

Worton were 4-0 up at the break, Kyle Davis scoring a brace, and Jake Flower and Mark White one each.

The second half was played at a reduced pace, however a third of the morning for Davis saw him complete a hat-trick. Declan Blandford scoring the final goal.
