WESTBURY chairman Neil Hawker is hoping that new captain Alex Senneck can help lift his side into the Glos/Wilts Division promotion shake-up this season.

Former Corsham man Senneck, who has also played for Wiltshire, has been handed the reins at Westbury and will be looking to build on the club’s mid-table finish last summer.

“Alex has moved to Westbury and he’s played at a higher level so I think that Richard Oakley, who was our skipper last season, was happy to let him take over,” said Hawker.

“I don’t know if we’ve got the squad to do it but as chairman, I’d like to see us go for promotion.”

Westbury have snapped up overseas batsman Tom Cullen from Potterne whilst Jacques Prinsloo has returned to the club.

Westbury travel to local rivals Warminster for their season opener tomorrow.

Tom Davie’s men have signed Pete Hickerton and Tom Weaver from Trowbridge.
