MATT Bown says his first season in charge at Westbury United has really opened his eyes to the life of a manager and that he will take his time before deciding whether to stay on at Meadow Lane next season.
Bown saw his side finish third-from-bottom in the Toolstation League First Division this season and is weighing up his options following the conclusion of the campaign.
“I’m going to take a little bit of time to have a think about what I’m going to do next season – I’ve had a few options come up with a few opportunities to go along and get back into the coaching side of things,” said the United chief.
“I’ve learnt a lot about myself this season and a lot about being a manager. I don’t think that people realise just how much time and effort goes into it and I know that I certainly didn’t.
“I’m a little disappointed with where we finished in the table because we were doing really well up until Christmas before it petered out a bit.
“But I think there are a lot of positives too. I’ve had some good, honest lads that have played for me and they’ve worked really hard.”
Westbury’s season ended with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Barnstaple Town on Monday, regular goalkeeper Alex Shaftoe netting from the penalty spot.
Champions Bradford Town ended the campaign by breaking the 100-point barrier, thanks to a 3-0 win over Wellington on Saturday.
Star striker Sam Jordan capped off his astonishing season with a hat-trick to take his tally to a whopping 77 goals in 55 appearances.
