WILTSHIRE made it two wins from two in group one of the Unicorns Knockout Trophy as they defeated Cornwall in a rain-reduced encounter at Corsham yesterday.

The home side, victors over Devon in their opener two weeks ago, maintained their unbeaten start to the summer as they triumphed by 21 runs at Station Road.

Wiltshire lost the toss and were put into bat in what became a 26-overs-a-side clash due to the weather.

Openers Ed Kilbee and Tom Morton were out with the score on one - Goatacre's Kilbee for a first-ball duck - and Wiltshire were reduced to 3-3 when Potterne captain Neil Clark was run out for just two.

However, captains past and present - Joe Breet and Mike Coles - rode to the rescue, putting on 118 for the fourth wicket.

Former Westbury batsman Breet hit an unbeaten 85 off 77 delivereies, including ten fours and two sixes, current skipper Coles adding 53 off 49 deliveries, including four fours and three sixes.

None of the other batsmen managed to reach double figures, Wiltshire's total being helped upwards by 26 extras as Matthew Robins 2-6 proved the pick of the visitors' bowling.

Cornwall lost skipper Robins first ball leg before to Tahir Afridi in the reply, but Andrew Libby and Tom Hughes got the scoreboard moving before Hughes went for 14, caught by Afridi off the bowling of Tom Foley.

A steady flow of wickets followed as Wiltshire reduced their opponents to 54-5, before wicketkeeper Paul Smith (40 off 29 balls) and Kelvin Snell (32 off 19) brought about a recovery.

More wickets slowed their progress however and, despite late hitting from Tom Shrewsbury (21 off 18) and Sam Hockin (11 not out), they were dismissed for 164 heading into the 26th over.

Afridi finished with 3-27 from five overs, Jake Roberts taking 2-19 while there were wickets for Foley, Coles and Ed Young.

Wiltshire travel to Bournemouth for the third of their four Trophy group matches against Dorset on Sunday (11am), where a win will guarantee them a place in the quarter finals.

They make one change in the team with Young unavailable. Ashur Morrison comes into the side.
