FIRST of all, a huge amount of credit has to go to the guys down at Corsham for getting our game on last weekend.

I got down to the ground at around 8.15am and the pitch was pretty much underwater. By the time we got to the normal start time of 11, it still didn’t look very likely that we’d be playing.

But the pitch at Corsham drains very well and after lunch, things were a lot more promising – we were able to start a reduced-overs game at around 4pm.

I think the onus to play was more on Cornwall because they’d already lost a game but we were also keen to get it on because we wanted to carry on our good run.

We got off to a shaky start with some leg before decisions and a run-out but Mike Coles and, in particular, Joe Breet came in to fire us to a good total.

We’ve plumped for a very attacking batting line-up this year and that was a big asset for us on Sunday, especially on a wicket like Corsham that doesn’t change much between the innings.

But it’s not all about the batting – our fielding was superb and we took three terrific catches.

Tom Foley and Jake Roberts bowled really well and so did Tahir Afridi, who came in for his second spell and saw off their two main batsmen, just when it was looking like things could get tight.

We’re in pole position to qualify through to the quarter-finals and that will be our aim. If we can win down at Dorset, we’ll be through but it would also be nice to get a good result against Wales too so that we can finish top of the group and secure a home draw in the quarter-finals.

Last weekend we had a player left out on his return from injury who was devastated not to be playing, especially on his home ground.

Ashur Morrison will come back in this weekend for Ed Young and hopefully he’ll look to fight for his place.
