Wiltshire Times: Steve Bullen scored a half-century in Corsham's defeat Steve Bullen scored a half-century in Corsham's defeat

CORSHAM slipped to their first defeat of the Wadworth 6X West of England League Premier One season as they were defeated at home by Downend.

Put in to bat, the home side made a dreadful start as openers Toby Davies and Mike Coles fell for first-ball ducks.

Number three Ashur Morrison also fell cheaply before wicketkeeper Steve Bullen hit 50 off 82 balls.

Jonathan Parker added an unbeaten 68 from 86 deliveries before Corsham reached 205 all out in the 50th over, Ryhs Barrett taking 5-37.

Downend openers Christopher Binnie and Richard Pandya put on 40 for the first wicket but the 64 off 100 deliveries from number three Curtis Blakemore and unbeaten 48 from Craig Miles allowed the visitors to get past their target for the loss of four wickets.

Westbury came up 91 runs short in their run chase after Lechlade had amassed 313-9 from their 50 overs in their Glos/Wilts Division.

Opener Bradley Dial scored a century off 91 balls, Arran Dickinson adding 63 and Asanka Vithanage a late unbeaten 40 for the home side, Martin Dolman taking 3-39.

David Wade's unbeaten 62 formed the backbone of the Westbury reply, but the 5-41 of Michael Craigs saw them come up well short on 222-9.

Warminster lowered the colours of Wiltshire rivals Biddestone by 34 runs in their derby clash.

The home side were indebted to an unbroken partnership of 71 between David Bateman (60 not out) and Rory Cullinan (34 not out) for getting them to 194-8 from their 50 overs, Naeem Khan leading the bowling with 4-22.

Tom Davie's 3-25 caused problems for the reply, despite 33 from Biddestone skipper Jamie Mitchell, Marcus Brown and Pete Hickerton also taking two wickets apiece.

Winsley hit back from a below-par batting performance to claim victory at Purton by six runs in the Wiltshire Division.

The visiting villagers were dismissed for 182 in 41 overs, opener Jeremy Smith scoring 46 off 49 deliveries and Tom Bowler taking 5-47 and Tobias Bowler 3-30.

Smith then played an important role in ending the Purton innings for 176, taking 3-22. Skipper Simon Orchard also took 3-26.

A third-wicket partnership of 172 between Dylan Bennie (105) and skipper Tom Norris (85) helped Marlborough amass 245-8 in their clash at Trowbridge.

Mike Reynolds, Luke Seymour and Scott Mitchell took two wickets each.

Wesley Marshall scored a half-century but the Trowbridge batting struggled until Sam Julyan added 69. However, they fell short on 179 all out.
