MELKSHAM duo Brian Ellis and Jim Escott took second and third-place respectively at last week’s Trowbridge Seniors match at La Farge.
Ellis took the runner-up spot with mixed catch of carp, skimmers, roach and perch weighing 13 lb 4 oz, taken on pole and fished with double red maggot whilst Escott weighed in with a mixed catch of roach and perch weighing 11 lb 0 oz, taken on pole and fished with casters.
Peter Thomas, from Bristol, was the winner with a carp catch weighing 17 lb0 oz, taken on method feeder and fished with red maggots.
Other placings: 4. Graham Hayward (Cheverell) 9 lb 12 oz; 5. Bernie Ryan (Devizes) 8 lb 12 o; 6. Mick O’Neil (Melksham) 8 lb 4 oz.
- COMPETITORS enjoyed good sport in the Airsprung Evening match, fished last Friday on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Tithe Barn.
Westbury’s Mike Marsden carried off the top prize with a mixed catch of roach, skimmers and perch weighing 10 lb 10 oz, taken on pole-fished pinkies.
Dave Morrison, from Trowbridge, took runner up spot with another roach, skimmers and perch catch of 7 lb 11 oz, again taken on pole-fished pinkies.
Frome’s Richard Whitmarsh was a third with a mixed catch of roach and skimmers, weighing 7 lb 9 oz and taken on pole-fished pinkies.
Other placings: 4. Lee Ross (Trowbridge) 6 lb 3 oz; 5. Vic Abbott (Bradford) 2 lb 4 oz.
- CHIPPENHAM’S Mick Gale took third-place in the Sunday Open match at Ivy House Fishery with a carp and silvers catch weighing 116 lb 2 oz.
Steve Waters rounded off a great weekend by taking top spot with a carp catch weighing 166 lb 15 oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots and worm fished on the edge.
Chris Davis of Frampton RBL took runner up prize with a carp and silvers catch weighing 144 lb 15 oz, taken on pole-fished pellets.
