A BROKEN thumb was the least of Westbury captain Alex Senneck’s worries as his side slipped to a third-straight defeat in the Glos/Wilts Division last weekend.

Senneck was injured catching Biddestone’s Niel Bredenkamp early on but his efforts were in vain as Westbury were beaten by 57 runs at their county rivals.

“Me breaking my thumb didn’t help, but the bottom line is that we didn’t score enough runs,” said the Westbury skipper.

“We’ve played three of the toughest sides recently and could’ve won against two of them. We are nearly there, but just failing to get over the line when it counts. I am confident the wins will come.”

Biddestone batted first after winning the toss, with Dwaine Perry leading the charge with a knock of 70.

Westbury’s David Wade claimed three wickets for 35 runs while Jacques Prinsloo claimed two as the hosts posted 181-8.

But Senneck’s men never really got their run chase up and running, with Ben Whiting top-scoring with just 30.

Naeem Khan took 4-25 whilst Stuart Kingwell and Perry both took two wickets apiece as Westbury were skittled for 124 in the 45th over.

Elsewhere, three wickets from Rory Cullinan wasn’t enough to prevent Warminster losing at Chippenham.

Tom Davie’s men were all out for 136 before the home side reached 138-7 in the 36th over.
