BRADFORD Town hotshot Sam Jordan has his fingers crossed that he’ll be able to maintain his show-stopping form in front of goal this season and help his team make their mark on the Toolstation League Premier Division.

Jordan fired Bradford to the First Division title last term with a whopping 77 goals in 55 appearances.

The striker admits that he expected to have even more interest from potential suitors this summer than he received, but is happy to be with his hometown club as they take their first steps into the top tier of the Toolstation League.

“I thought that I could have scored even more than I did last year but as soon as we won the league in that tough game at Chard (on April 15), we dropped off a bit,” said Jordan.

“I want to try and see if I can get 50 goals this year. People have said to me that you’ll only get 25 or 30, which is what most strikers get in that league, but I want to prove them wrong.

“I didn’t miss a game last season and I am going on holiday in a few weeks’ time and I’m going to miss three games, so I’m not happy about that.

“There is definitely going to be tougher opposition but from speaking to friends at Melksham, they’ve said that there are six-eight really good teams and the rest aren’t too different from what we’re used to playing against.

“I did play in that league a few years ago for Melksham but I was only young then and I don’t really remember it.

“I didn’t really get as much interest as I thought I might get. There was talk of Paulton Rovers but nothing really happened.

“But moving away might mean a lot of travelling for home games and it’s nice playing for your hometown club.”
