SPENCER Moulton’s Andy Colebrooke, Russell Francis and Graham Shadwell have won the Bowls England Men’s National Triples Championship.

They clinched the title at Royal Leamington Spa yesterday afternoon after scoring two shots on the 18th and last end to beat the Carterton trio of David Clanfield, Paul Sharman and Alan Prew 15-14 in the final.

The trio, from the Bradford-on-Avon-based Spencer club, were 4-3 down after five ends and 7-5 down after nine but hit back to lead 13-7 after 13.

Shadwell’s threesome then dropped seven shots to trail 14-13 going into the last end but held their nerve scoring a two to lift the triples title in a tense finish.

Earlier in the day, Spencer enjoyed a comfortable 18-7 victory over the Devon-based Kings Bowls Club team of Joe Melmore, Jamie Chestney and Sam Tolchard in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Carterton scored a seven on the first end as they booked thier place in the final with a 27-2 victory over Thrapston, who conceded after only 11 ends.
