FROME Town manager Adrian Foster is dreaming of the first round proper of the FA Cup after guiding his side past Folland Sports.

Despite the 1-0 scoreline, Frome looked comfortable in the second qualifying round replay at Blindmans Brewery Stadium.

A goal from Matt Smith after 27 minutes gave the hosts the lead and although they could not kill the game off Folland never looked like finding a way back into the tie.

“I thought we played well and we created lots of chances we just couldn’t score,” said Foster.

“I said to the boys when we play a side below you we should win, it is simple if you don’t win it is because we haven’t set ourselves well for the game.

“I think it could have been six or seven had we managed to take our chances.

“The longer the game went on gave them a bit of a lift but the game should have been dead in the first half.”

Town now face a stiff test to make it into the first round proper when they host Conference South side Boreham Wood, who currently sit top of their division.

“Progressing in the cup helps us with the finances, which is needed for any club at our level,” added Foster.

“We need to play well against Boreham Wood, we want to get in to the first round proper, and that is my aim as a manager.

“They are flying at the moment at the top of the league but there is no reason if we play well we can’t get a result.”

Frome added striker Mark Ford to their side on Wednesday, signing him on a month’s loan from Weymouth, and he will be available for Saturday.
