FORMER European Tour winner Van Phillips saw off a double Wiltshire challenge to claim the title at the latest Jamega Tour event at Cumberwell Park this week.
Phillips fought off the challenge of home player Steve Surry and Salisbury & Suth Wilts ace Robbie Busher to claim the prize.
Phillips trailed both Surry and Busher by a single shot after the first day’s action, after a four under par 67, while another Cumberwell Park pro, Charlie Cossins was on three under.
Phillips and Surry were level on nine under in the back nine on day two, with Busher two strokes back.
But on the 17th, Surry’s tee shot went into trees on the right and his double bogey left Phillips with a two-shot advantage going down the last, which he parred to close out victory.
