FROME Town hit back from 4-1 down to edge a nine-goal thriller at Larkhall Athletic in the Red Insure Cup.

The hosts opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Matt Thorne pounced on a half cleared ball to shoot high into the Frome net.

Three minutes later Frome found themselves two down as another ball carved the defence clean open allowing Ross Lye to net.

Frome did reduce the deficit almost immediately as Aaron Rodriguez danced through several challenges to score with a well placed shot.

The winger could have equalised in the 11th as a great through ball from Mark Francis found him in space but he somehow managed to sky the ball from three yards.

Larkhall then moved into overdrive and with Luke Bryan capitalising on a slip by Jack Metcalf to score in the 20th and showing excellent skill to bring the ball down and shoot home in the 27th.

Adrian Foster’s men hit back but had to wait until after the interval to grab their second.

The visitors made it 4-2 in the 58th minute when Mark Ford was hauled down in the area Mark Cooper netted from the spot.

It was 4-3 in the 70th minute as Ford controlled a perfect Ricky Hulbert cross.

The on loan striker made it three goals in two games as he produced a stunning volley after a Brown cross to level the scores at 4-4.

The winner arrived with 10 minutes to go as a long range shot from Rodriguez was spilt by Conor Thompson and Lamar Powell pounced on the rebound.
