THIRD Division high flyers Stonewood Sundays had a convincing 7-2 home win over their first division opponents Christian Malford in their first round tie in the A M Print & Copy sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout cup tie at Biddestone.

Dan Lardner's brilliantly-taken hat-trick and goals for Mike Hopkins, Mike Flynn, Jack Gruar and substitute Kris Beasley made up the seven with Malford’s goals coming from Scot Evans Stuart Kemp.

After conceding 25 goals in their previous two matches, second division The Mallard suffered another heavy defeat away to Division One outfit Miller Sports A who, thanks to an 11-0 win, set up a clash with local rivals Melksham Cosmos in the next round of the Knockout Cup.

Richard Moules twice, Paul Walker with a hat-trick and Rob Briggs, who started the game in defence before being pushed up front in the second half, bagged a couple of goals.

Mike Stevens, Will Gale and Ashley Monaghan’s double made up the 11.

White Horse B’s only win of the season came in the previous round of the Knockout Cup when they defeated first division opponents FC Pig & Whistle 7-4.

However, there was no fairytale cup run for Chris Webber’s second division outfit. In fact they suffered a nightmare.

Drawn at home to Division One high flyers Potterne CFC, they fell at the second hurdle as the villagers booked their spot in the last 16 thanks to a 17-0 win.

Simon Drewitt started and finished the scoring as he claimed a five-timer. In between Drewitt’s goals, Neil Clark and Ben Mason netted hat-tricks, Wayne House bagged a four-timer with a goal each for Craig Campbell and Steve House making up the 17.
