HOOKER Rob Webber hopes success is just around the corner after committing his future to Bath Rugby this week.

Webber arrived at The Rec from Aviva Premiership rivals Wasps in the summer of 2012 and has gone on to establish himself as a pivotal cog in the Bath pack.

Having played a big part in Bath’s recent resurgence, Webber has set his sights on finally adding to the club’s trophy cabinet.

“I’ve been at Bath two-and-a-half years now and have really enjoyed it,” said the 28-year-old, who has put pen to paper on a new contact.

“It’s a fantastic environment to be involved in and it’s a great place to come to work every day. I feel like I’ve improved in the time that I have been here and that my game has got stronger.

“Mike Ford always says we are unproven as we haven’t got that piece of silverware yet and that is where we want to get to.

“With the potential we’ve got I don’t see why we can’t achieve that but I have been playing in the Premiership for ten years now and I know how difficult it is.

“What we have to do is keep on working as hard as we can and I am sure that will keep us moving in the right direction.”

Webber has returned to Bath over the past fortnight after a month away on England duty during the Autumn Internationals.

After seemingly nailing down the number two jersey on the tour of New Zealand over the summer, Webber had to largely settle for a place on the bench for the four games at Twickenham.

And he will use that as motivation to reclaim a starting spot ahead of the Six Nations.

“To be involved in all four Tests was great and it was a huge honour to start one of them,” said Webber.

“You always want to start more but my role in the team was slightly different and I am happy with the contribution I made.

“Hopefully I gave a good account of myself and can keep myself in the frame for when that comes about again in the new year.”
