WITH North Bradley already though to the semi-finals of this season’s Briken Motors & A M Print & Copy-sponsored A&B Cup, the remaining three quarter-final ties were all eye-catching with the game at Brown’s Park being the one most likely to whet the appetite of the neutral supporters.

Hosts Freshford United, who had won all their previous 12 matches in all competitions, welcomed third division hotshots Potterne and the hosts avoided the dreaded unlucky 13 as a 4-1 win kept their quest for silverware on five fronts very much alive.

Dan Fowler’s spectacular Steve Gerrard esque free kick put Freshford ahead.

Dave Percival marked his debut for the hosts to make it 2-0.

Neil Clark’s goal at the start of the second half got Potterne back in the game, however any hopes of an upset were ended by Fowler whose second of the game restored Freshford’s two-goal cushion and his hat-trick goal finally killed off the challenge of Potterne.

Following their embarrassing Knockout Cup exit last weekend, when they were thumped 11-0 by Potterne FC, Phil Webb’s FC Box Steam Brewery were looking to regain some pride from their trip to second division Heytesbury.

The third division visitors to Heytesbury Park did just that as a 4-2 victory took the underdog through to the semi-finals.

Nick Gleeson’s stunning 30-yard curler gave the Brewery boys a 15th-minute lead. Kieron Edwards went close to restoring parity for Heytesbury on 30 minutes but his effort struck the bar.

The hosts got back on level terms just before the break, Leigh Kennedy squaring things up in the 43rd minute.

Three goals in the space of seven minutes swung the tie in favour of the Brewery boys.

Danny Harrison, on his debut, headed in a free kick to hand them back the lead on 62 minutes.

Three minutes later Reuben Spong weaved his way through the hosts defence to make it 3-1 and on 68 minutes Brendan Hind put through his own net to give the visitors a 4-1 advanatge.

Luke Love pulled a goal back for Heytesbury on 83 minutes and on 85 minutes Edwards was denied a third for the hosts after he was denied by the Box keeper, and although they searched for a way back into the contest, Box held firm to claim what was a deserved win.

The all-second division tie featuring Holt and White Horse went the way of Holt, who progressed to the final four courtesy of a 3-1 win.

Holt bossed the first half and led through a Fynn McCarthy-Driver effort.

Zack Manna doubled the villagers' advantage when he made it 2-0 from the penalty spot. Just before half time White Horse gave themselves a lifeline when Marek Miszta turned in a Jack Holdway free kick to cut the gap to the odd goal.

If the first 45 minutes belonged to Holt the second was controlled by White Horse who threw everything at the villagers as they looked for an equaliser.

But after going close on a few occasions Holt hit their guests with the classic sucker punch as they broke away to score the all important killer third goal. Jed Osborne doing the damage that secured Holt their 3-1 success.

North Bradley may believe that they are destined to life this season's Briken Motors & A M Print & Copy - sponsored A&B Cup after they received a second walkover in this terms competition.
