TROWBRIDGE'S first-ever experience of a 3G pitch turned into a successful one as they moved into the top six.

Maidenhead appeared to have the early advantage, pinning the visitors back into their own 22.

But gradually the Trowbridge pack started to take control forcing their way into the home side’s half.

Their picking and driving game continued until they were able to spread the ball wide, sending in Adam Sullivan to score.

From the restart Maidenhead again forced Trowbridge to defend until the constant pressure told and centre Jon Heron forced his way through under the posts, giving Mike Virgo an easy conversion.

With half time looming, Trowbridge nudged back into the lead, Lloyd Davis landing a 45 metre penalty after the home side were caught going off their feet at the breakdown.

But a series of penalties allowed Maidenhead back into Trowbridge’s 22 and, from a catch and drive lineout, hooker Lewis Jones forced his way over the line, Virgo adding the conversion.

A second successful penalty from Davis reduced arrears after the break and the visitors attacked from all angles.

James Davies made a 50-metre run, only to be stopped a metre short.

Quick recycling and a fast pass from Tom Weaver put winger Phil Kilcoyne in to score, Davis making no mistake with the conversion.

Davis landed another penalty and, with three minutes remaining, Davis shook off two tackles to make a break down the right wing.

Weaver and Kilcoyne were in support and the three ran in behind the home defence putting Kilcoyne in for a second try to secure the win.
