WEST Wilts Ladies 3rd XI were held to a 2-2 draw when they hosted their Winscombe counterparts.

The home side started with confidence and tenacious play from Yolanda Kennedy saw her thread a cross into the circle where Suzi Agate was ideally placed to score.

Winscombe came back but Sally Webb and Holly Barry consistently interrupted any attacks, while Charlotte Bennett marked the centre-forward out of contention.

Wilts were then penalised for feet outside the D and Winscombe followed up from a short corner to make it 1-1.

Play moved up and down the field, with Sally Ford distributing from midfield and new recruit Abi Bennett making good space on the right.

Eventually pressure told and Ford scored from a short corner to put the home side back in front.

Winscombe piled on the pressure in the second half but Jess Agate and Sally Sheppard absorbed this and Cait Ball made critical saves.

Wilts had opportunities too, with Webb setting up openings that the forwards could not quite convert.

Eventually, though, Wins-combe managed to steal an equaliser through a lucky deflection and the last ten minutes saw Sheppard save off the line and the resolute defence stand up to an increasingly aggressive attack.
