MILLER Sports A took the points in their away game against Christian Malford at Stanley Park with a 2-1 win, Ben Munns in the Malford goal having an outstanding game to keep his side in the hunt.

Neither side dominated in the early period with a reshuffled Malford defence playing well and frustrating their opponents.

Joe Murray for Miller saw his shot just go over the crossbar whilst Scott Evans for Malford fired wide. Miller gradually began to get on top and after 28 minutes Ashley Monaghan met a cross from the left to fire Miller in front.

The Malford keeper then made two good saves to keep the score at 1-0 at the half.

An unfortunate ankle injury to Malford striker David Brown meant he could not start the second half and disrupted Malford at the start.

Miller took full advantage and put pressure on Malford’s defence. Miller went 2-0 in front after Rich Moules headed home a cross from the left in the 53rd minute.

Miller were clearly on top but the Malford defence held firm and their keeper made an outstanding save from Will Gale’s fierce shot.

Malford gradually began to get more confident going forward and surprised Miller in the 84th minute when Tom Watchman lobbed Miller keeper Alex Coombs to reduce the score to 2-1. Miller however continued to press forward and ended the game as worthy winners.

With both of the top two sides in Division One sitting out this weeks round of fixtures FC Buscots made the most of their opportunity to close the gap on both Potterne and Melksham Cosmos.

A 3-0 victory at FC Pig & Whistle saw them ensure that the battle for the title remains a three-club race.

Jake Waters' goal gave Buscots the lead, Luke Enderby doubled their advantage in the first half and a second from Enderby, his 27th of the season completed the win.

Sutton Benger’s 3-1 loss at home to Talbot FC was the villagers' 13th defeat of the season, but despite being just above the drop zone the 12 points they have gained to date may be good enough to keep them in the division.

Dave Herring scored either side of Shaun Ward effort for Talbot to give them their three goals, but when James Weston got Benger back in the game at 2-1. Talbot, who edged the previous meeting 4-3, would have been worried but they did what they had to do and saw the game out with relative ease.

Pheasant FC arrived at bottom of the table Trowbridge Town Supporters Club with just nine players but despite starting with two men missing they were two up inside 15 minutes before going on to complete a 7-0 win once they were back up to full strength.

Richie Bolter scored the first two goals for the Pheasant and Joe Hylands made it 3-0 before a first goal of the season from Justin Flowers gave them a 4-0 interval lead.

Joe Hylands' second-half effort for the Pheasant came in between a Richie Bolter brace which took his personal tally for the morning to four.
