MELKSHAM-BASED The Grapes United are just one win away from being crowned this season's third division champions.

After their 6-0 victory at the Conigre over Cavalier FC in what was the visitors' final game of the season they could secure the number one spot if they beat FC Lacock next weekend.

Grapes, who are the only team left in the league this season, had their 16th win in the bag by half time as they had opened up a 5-0 lead.

Stephen Toogood opened the scoring, Nick Ridout added the next two and Stuart Barber made it 4-0 before Ridout completed his hat-trick to put Grapes in complete control.

The scoring was completed by Barber whose second of the morning took his own tally for the season to 25 and Grapes' total to 97.

Stonewood Sundays (BFC) may be down in third place, but they are serious contenders along with FC Bradford who they face next weekend for the second automatic promotion spot.

A 3-0 win over Evana Designs who finished their first season with no win from 15, means that Stonewood are two points behind Bradford with a game in hand, so next week's top of the table clash will be huge for both teams.

A goal in each half from Mike Hopkins and Richard Hewitt’s second-half effort earned Stonewood their 13th win of the season.

FC Bradford maintained their grip on second spot, thanks to a 5-1 victory at Trowbridge Wanderers in a fixture that could have been a banana skin to their promotion hopes but in the end proved to be anything but as Wayne Duggan’s side, who were missing a few key players, came through it with flying colours.

Harry Hamlin’s penalty put Bradford in front, Ashley Styles made it 2-0 following good work from Robin Walker.

Carl Mackness reduced the arrears for Wanderers in the second period before Styles bagged his second of the contest to regain a two-goal cushion for Bradford.

Steve Bryant made it 4-1 five minutes after coming off the bench and the win was confirmed when Hamlin headed in his second of the game for 5-1.

FC Lacock picked up maximum points from their visit to Westbury Conservative Club whose 2-1 defeat condemned them to a third straight loss.

Lacock led through a Ryan Ross goal and although Rob Mead restored parity for the Cons’ Club they couldn’t hold out and a Rory Davis goal secured win number nine of the season for Lacock who had beaten their hosts 4-2 in their very first game on the League back in September.
