JAMES Doyle is set to be reunited with Wiltshire-trained Al Kazeem in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on Sunday.

Doyle partnered Beckhampton trainer Roger Charlton's stable star to a hat-trick of Group One victories during a glorious 2013 campaign but as he is now one of the principal riders for Godolphin, Ryan Moore steered Al Kazeem to his comeback success at Longchamp in early April.

Crack Frenchman Olivier Peslier then took over in the saddle when he filled the runner-up spot behind Cirrus Des Aigles on his return to Paris for the Prix Ganay at the start of this month.

However, with Moore set to partner The Grey Gatsby in this weekend's prestigious event, Doyle has been called upon once again by Charlton and owner John Deer is looking forward to seeing his pride and joy compete in a race in which he beat Camelot two years ago.

Deer said: "We're all booked up for Ireland this weekend. He's entered in France (Prix d'Ispahan), but won't be running in that.

"It looks a top-class race on Sunday. I've heard some people saying this race has been a bit sub-standard in previous years, but it's certainly not that this time around.

"James Doyle will ride him, I believe. Ryan Moore will obviously be riding The Grey Gatsby.

"It should be an interesting race."
