ANKIT Shastri’s unbeaten 124 saw Warminster maintain their perfect start to the new season as they romped to an emphatic eight-wicket win when they entertained Chippenham.

Tom Davie’s side have won their opening three matches of the campaign and are sitting pretty at the top of the table, 16 points clear of nearest rivals Gloucester City Winget.

Batting first, the visitors looked well-placed when they reached the 100 mark for the loss of one wicket, with Rory Cullinan (2-26) having removed Arran Merryweather.

Tom Young (56) and Darryl Losper (45) were looking well-set at that stage but once the duo were dismissed by Graham Cuthbertson (4-31), the wheels came off the innings.

Owen Alsop (42*) was the only other Chippenham to make any serious inroads on the scoreboard as the visitors eventually slid to 204-7.

The home side made light work of the run chase when they took to the middle, with opener Shastri heroically batting right through the innings.

Captain Davie also made a valiant 52 as the duo shared a fine opening stand of 138.

Brandon Ward joined Shastri to get Warminster close to their target but after the former fell with just 19 runs left to get, Pete Hickerton was on hand to help get Warminster over the line with more than 13 overs to spare.
