CALNE-BASED Bremhill View had an excellent season, winning both the Division Two title and the Ken Clarke-sponsored WG Parr Trophy.

Striker Kieron Gleed can take many plaudits for their success as the 20-year-old scored 39 goals in Bremhill’s league total of 129.

Gleed also struck six times in Bremhill’s cup run, the most memorable of which came in their 2-1 win over Goatacre in the final. Gleed’s younger brother, Billy, also found the back of the net 20 times throughout the season and the duo’s near telepathic nature on the pitch certainly paid dividends for the team.

“Billy got a fair few goals as well and he actually set up a lot of mine,” said Gleed.

“He’s really good at setting up chances for me. We’ve played together for so long and it’s great that we are still playing together now.

“It wasn’t too bad a season. We won the league without losing a game and we won the cup as well so you can’t really get much better than that.

“Before I’ve only played in the Sunday League in drips and drabs because of Saturday football but this year I played a lot of games so it’s definitely the most goals I’ve scored in a season.

“Because I play so much I have got really fit and at the start of the season I was probably the fittest I have ever been and that’s when I was banging most of my goals in.”

Bremhill’s success means they will be battling it out in Division One next term but Gleed has no doubt that they can soon be back on the trophy trail.

“We are going up a league next season and hopefully we can keep most of the boys together. If we can then I think we will have a good chance of challenging for the title again,” said Gleed.

Meanwhile, AFC Melksham’s Sean Fordham topped the list of premier division scorers with 27 goals, while Neil Clark led the way in Division One as his haul of 35 helped the villagers beat Melksham Cosmos to the title. Stuart Baber topped the charts in Division Three for champions The Grape United on 32.
