MARK Collier’s hunt for a top-quality marksman is rumbling on as his Chippenham Town squad return to pre-season training tomorrow.

Collier will put the Bluebirds through their paces ahead of the upcoming Evo-Stik League Southern campaign and a striker remains his main transfer priority.

The Bluebirds boss revealed that his current top target is currently on trial with a professional club.

“We’re still after a striker and our main priority is on trial with a pro club, so we’ll see,” said Collier.

“It is difficult to find the right one and we have missed out on a few recently.

“We spoke to Tyler Sibbick at Larkhall but couldn’t match his wage demands and we also spoke to Nat Jarvis at Cirencester but had the same problem there.

“We also had a conversation with another striker, Lewis Haldane, but he’s decided to stay at Frome.

“We’ll take our time and hopefully we’ll be able to bring in the right person.”

“We try to keep our training constructive, rather than destructive. A lot of the guys have gym memberships and things like that and come back in good shape.

“We’ll have a few triallists coming along and the aim for everyone will be to try and earn a place in that squad for August 8 (the opening game of the season).”
