MARK Collier will give young players a shot in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division if they continue to give their all for Chippenham Park.

Winger Ryan Campbell has fully graduated from Chippenham Town’s Toolstation League stablemates, whilst defensive brothers Jamie and Charlie Norman, as well as midfielder Toby Clarke, have all also featured for the Bluebirds in pre-season.

Meanwhile striker Mark Francis, who played in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Melksham Town, has also signed back on at Hardenhuish Park.

“Ryan Campbell had a very good 45 minutes against Wantage and a good hour against Melksham,” said Collier.

“He’s a good technical player, who can be influential, especially when the pitches are good. He’s going to be part of the first team squad.

“I would imagine that Jamie Norman, Charlie Norman and Toby Clarke will all probably start the season with Park but the opportunity is there for players to play in the Southern League if they put in the hard work.

“To be honest, Mark Francis fell out of love with football a little bit and he did have a little look at (Swindon) Supermarine but we were happy to get him back involved and he adds to our options up front. We’ll look to get his match sharpness back before the season.”

Luke Ballinger tapped in a James Guthrie free-kick against former club Melksham on Tuesday before Alex Ferguson lashed home a long-range effort.

Andy Sandell netted a brace, whilst debutant Matt Jones and Ashan Holgate were on target in last Friday’s 4-0 win at Wantage Town.

Collier said: “I’m not too worried about scorelines but our performances have been very good. We’ve set up slightly differently, with getting more people into wide areas, and someone told me that we got 34 crosses into the box against Melksham.
