CORSHAM Town went top of the Toolstation League First Division last weekend by thrashing Keynsham Town at the Southbank.

Jeff Roberts’ men found their shooting boots as they cracked five goals past their Somerset opponents to rack up their fourth win from five games.

Keynsham wasted two great opportunities to take the lead in the opening stages before Dan King fired home the first goal of the afternoon.

The visitors’ Stefan Lee restored parity before the break but Corsham roared back in the second period, with Levi Cox making it 2-1.

An injury to the referee resulted in the linesman taking over the whistle and the new official awarded the hosts a penalty, which was dispatched by Cox as he grabbed his second of the game.

Substitute Danny Baker got Corsham’s fourth goal as he smashed home a spectacular volley from 25 yards before defender Sam Ockwell rounded off the scoring.

Corsham are due to take on Chipping Sodbury Town on Wednesday night.
