SOME 30 Hot Chilli Triathlon Club members braved the summer storms on Sunday to compete in the Frome Sprint Triathlon.
Despite the testing conditions, several members recorded new personal bests.
Having raced in the National Team Relays the day before, Hot Chilli junior Freddie Webb continued to show his form and progress this season, winning first junior place and coming second overall, while Kevin Gover won the Vet category outright and as he finished inside the top 20 overall.
Karen Jones and Liz Lewis, who were only novices with the club a year ago, raced up at the Cotswold 70.3 middle distance event, and both finished with times a little over six hours.
Earlier in the week, the final series results from the Wessex Inter Club 10 Mile Time Trial Championships were released and Hot Chilli Tri demonstrated their strength on two wheels by winning first club overall as well as several riders placing in the top 10 solo results for the series.
Will Crudgington, retained the junior title for the club, whilst Lysa Fiarhurst narrowly missed out on first female place by a couple of points despite out riding all her local rivals.
Meanwhile, Rachel Bown also completed the Frome Triathlon wearing her new kit featuring her sponsors Compressport, Lazer, Clif, Places for People and Quest Sports Wear.
Bown has also launched a new fundraising page www.braintumoursupport.co.uk/rachel-bown-champion-fund1.
