WESTBURY survived a second-half onslaught to record their second win in four days.

Leading 2-0 at half time, a combination of poor Wellington finishing and superb defending led by Nathan Hallett-Young and Matt Friendship saw them to victory.

Brimming with confidence after the midweek win at Calne, United’s goals came on 14 and 24 minutes and were almost a carbon copy of each other.

Skipper Gary Tugwell finished off a counter attack involving Brett Partner and Mark Young to open the scoring, then Mark Young applied the scoring touch after fine play by Dan Moore.

Prior to the goals, home keeper Charlie Heydon had saved well to deny Sam Bryant and he then excelled once the 2-0 lead had been established to save from Jack Bryant.

Both sides had chances before the break with Hallett-Young heading Partner’s corner over the bar and a fine passing move by Wellington ending with Luke Redrup’s finish being disallowed for offside.

The visitors dominated after the break and pinned Westbury back for long periods of time.

However the defence held strong and five shots were off target as Conor Bryant, James Clough twice, Jack Bryant and Redrup all produced poor attempts.

Heydon was smart to save from Conor Bryant and Sam Bryant before Ollie Nott pulled a late goal back with a long range free kick which should have been saved by Charlie Heydon.
